IOG, Transocean Sign North Sea Oil Drilling Contract

Independent Oil and Gas (IOG), the North Sea focused oil and gas company, has signed a rig contract with Transocean Drilling procuring the Transocean John Shaw semi-submersible rig to drill an appraisal well on the Skipper oil discovery in the UK sector of the North sea. -
Transocean CEO Resigns

Steven Newman is stepping step down as president and CEO of Transocean Ltd., effective Feb. 16. Additionally, he is resigning as a director of Transocean. Until a permanent replacement is named, Ian Strachan, chairman of Transocean’s board, will serve as interim CEO. -

Oil giant BP has lost its attempt to shift over $15 billion (9 billion pounds) of costs related to the Gulf of Mexico oil spill onto contractor Transocean, increasing the possibility BP may have to foot the entire $42 billion clean up bill. -
