IFC Reviews Renewable Energy Cooperation with Egypt

Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat met with a delegation from the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the World Bank’s private sector arm.
The meeting covered several cooperation files, including proposals related to renewable energy tenders to be offered, the means of support and advisory services for renewable energy projects, the work strategy, Egypt’s energy mix, and increasing reliance on renewable energy.

EMGF to Drive Growth in East Med Region at Two-Day Workshop Event

The East Mediterranean Gas Forum (EMGF) is set to host a strategic “Reenergizing the East Med” two-day workshop event on May 7-8, 2025, at Tolip El Galala Hills Hotel in Ain Sokhna, Egypt to support boosting natural gas production, strengthening regional cooperation, and accelerating EMGF’s implementation agenda. The event will bring together government officials, industry leaders, regulators, and technical experts to tackle the region’s most pressing challenges.The first day of the workshop is expected to feature expert discussions and technical workshops, addressing key topics such as natural gas supply and exploration, infrastructure optimization strategies, and emissions reduction and decarbonization. While, the second day will provide a comprehensive overview of EMGF’s new strategy and implementation roadmap, followed by breakout sessions, and executives roundtable.

Egypt, AD Ports Group Explore Collaboration in Energy, Logistics

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi met with Ahmad Al Mutawa, Regional CEO of Abu Dhabi Ports Group (AD Ports Group), a global leader in trade, industry, and logistics, along with the accompanying delegation. During the meeting, Badawi highlighted the promising investment opportunities within Egypt’s petroleum and mineral resources sector, underpinned by the six key pillars of the Ministry’s strategy.

Egypt’s Petroleum Import Bill Sees 53.3% Annual Spike

During the first half of fiscal year (FY) 2024/25, Egypt's petroleum imports value increased by 53.3% to reach $9.7 billion, compared to $6.3 billion in the first half (H1) of FY 2023/24. Imports of natural gas grew by $2.1 billion, and imports of petroleum products by $1.2 billion, while crude oil imports increased by $58.7 million, due to the increase in imported amounts.

20% Increase in Abu Qir Fertilizers Sales in 9m FY2024/25

Abu Qir Fertilizers and Chemical Industries Company, a major player in Egypt’s petrochemicals sector, reported a 20% increase in its sales during the first nine months of fiscal year (FY) 2024/25 compared to the corresponding period in 2023/2024 to reach EGP 16.9 billion. The company’s gross profits came at  EGP 7.7 billion, compared to EGP 6.9 billion, in the first nine months of FY 2023/24.
