The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources (MoPMR) affirms its commitment to taking all necessary regulatory measures and conducting all needed examinations to verify the quality of petroleum products and ensure their conformity with Egyptian standard specifications, according to a statement released by the ministry on Wednesday.
The statement is the ministry’s second addressing the claims spread on social media about the poor quality of gasoline products in circulation.
The MoPMR stressed that it is looking into complaints received on its hotline 16528) , noting that they are being investigated, and samples are being taken from the fuelling stations mentioned in the complaints.
According to the statement, the ministry’s emergency room was activated and is working on reviewing local and international Gasoline supply sources to test their conformity with Egyptian standard specifications; reviewing main storage depots; withdrawing and analysing samples from fuel stations nationwide; and conducting additional analysis of the sulfur content.
The analysis certificates of samples of both locally produced Gasoline and the imported gasoline shipments that were unloaded during the period from April 18, 2025, to May 3, 2025, at the Suez and Alexandria ports were reviewed, and they came compliant with the Egyptian quality specifications.
Additionally, extra inspection committees were deployed nationwide, through which 230 additional samples were collected. These are currently being analyzed within the laboratories of the refining and distribution companies affiliated with the petroleum sector. he results will be announced as soon as they are completed, according to the statement.
