According to Press TV the United Kingdom will pay Iran the country’s share of revenues from Scotland’s offshore Rhum Gas Field, but only after sanctions on the Islamic Republic are lifted.
Iranian Deputy Oil Minister for International and Commercial Affairs Amir Hossein Zamaninia in Tehran made this announcement following a meeting with British chargé d’affaires to Iran Ajay Sharma.
Zamaninia said his talks with Sharma focused on the extraction of oil, development of joint reservoirs and enhanced oil recovery (EOR).
The joint venture responsible for the Rhum Gas Field goes back to 1973. The field is located northeast of Aberdeen, one of the energy hubs of the North Sea region.
Zamaninia also revealed that a British economic delegation is due in Iran on October 2, reported Mehr News agency.
He explained that the Iranian private sector would be much more receptive of meaningful cooperation with foreign companies than before, having undergone huge changes over the past 10 years.
