UAE’s Environmentally Friendly Cooling Systems on International Display

A delegation from Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), a leading district cooling services provider, is heading to Boston, US to take part in the 106th  International District Energy Association (IDEA) Annual Conference and Trade Show that begins on June 28.

Led by Ahmad Bin Shafar, chief executive officer and a member of the IDEA board of directors, the delegation will include other senior officials of the company.

Empower will present a case study on ‘District Cooling Marches on in Dubai: The Emirates Towers Case Study’ on the second day of the conference.

The three major topics that will be discussed during the conference will include ‘Urban Sustainability’ focused on proven solutions that reduces greenhouse gas emissions, optimize local resources, enhance economic resiliency and strengthen critical energy infrastructure; ‘Utility of The Future’, exploring how utilities, regulators and industry are adapting to accelerate deployment of cleaner, more resilient energy infrastructure for cities; and ‘Global Industry Growth – Local Leadership’, which will call for accelerated global deployment of district energy in cities to improve energy efficiency, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and strengthen local economies.

The event will bring to the table several topics related to latest technologies and equipment in the district cooling sector.

This year, many workshops are lined up, including ones on ‘Campus + City: Symbiotic Sustainability, Resiliency and Reality Check’, ‘District Energy + CHP: Community Energy Policies and Tools for System Development and Deployment’, and a special workshop for Urban Sustainability Directors Network (USDN).

The event will also include three panel discussions entitled ‘District Energy in Cities’, ‘Paradigm Shift – Utility of The Future’, and ‘Mobilizing Industry Growth and Investment.’

“District cooling services have become environmentally and economically viable solutions for developed cities due to its efficiency in operation and maintenance, energy conservation and environmental protection in residential and commercial buildings, hotels and offices, because of lower operational costs, maintenance and saving of energy and environmental conservation,” said Bin Shafar.

“We are delighted to participate in IDEA for the 11th consecutive time. IDEA 2015 brings together industry professionals from around the world to discuss community-based district cooling systems. We have in the past bagged awards for total square footage committed to district cooling and for total number of buildings committed to the system,” he said.

IDEA is an annual conference and trade fair that brings together global energy experts, business leaders and decision-makers to discuss the latest trends and innovations in the field of district cooling and combined cooling solutions and power distribution systems for cities and communities and longer.
