Emirates Gas (Emgas), a subsidiary of Emirates National Oil Company (Enoc), and Dubai Civil Defence have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to facilitate issuance of No Objection Certificates (NOC) to bulk LPG installations.
Zaid Alqufaidi, managing director, Enoc Marketing; and Colonel Salem Khalifa, assistant director-general of the Dubai Civil Defence for Prevention and Protection, signed the agreement at a ceremony held during the Intersec Expo 2015 at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), said a Wam news agency report.
The MoU provides the framework for Emgas and Dubai Civil Defence to cooperate in providing NOC for bulk LPG installations and exchanging of common specialised information, carrying out of common awareness campaigns and taking appropriate action against companies violating the standards and codes.
Saeed Khoory, CEO of Enoc, said: “We are honoured to partner with Dubai Civil Defence which has an accomplished track-record in safety practices.
Our partnership will be marked by mutual knowledge transfer in all key areas, especially in safety workshops. We will also jointly explore common awareness campaigns that will strengthen public awareness on safety issues, in addition to taking appropriate action against violating companies.

Major General Rashid Thani Al Matrooshi, director general of Civil Defence Dubai, said: “The new agreement with Enoc is a perfect example of how various organisations in Dubai can join hands to further the standards of safety. The MoU will significantly elevate the knowledge and skill sets of both Enoc and Dubai Civil Defence staff, and in turn contribute to the welfare of Dubai’s citizens.”
