Transocean Won Offshore Drill Contract

Transocean Ltd., the biggest offshore-rig operator, has won a $44.8m contract to drill four wells off Norway for Det Norske Oljeselskap ASA at the lowest recorded tariff of $180,000 a day, Bloomberg informed.

Det Norske informed that the tender had attracted unusual interest from 14 rigs, and the work is expected to start in December 2016 to last for around 250 days.

According to an analyst quoted in Bloomberg‘s report, the 2017 delay promises to capitalize on a stronger market to get better rates for more sophisticated units.
