Toyota is in the process of gaining initial approval to import natural gas to sell to local factories, a senior official at EGAS told Egypt Oil & Gas.
Currently three companies have initial approval to import natural gas: TAQA, Roseneft, and Fleet Energy, Egypt Oil & Gas reported earlier this month.
Companies need to secure a final approval within six month or repeat the entire process.
The process for obtaining initial approval entails proof of quality and specifications of gas imported, proof of source, a sales contract with a domestic buyer, the importing company’s financial background, and a number of other documents.
Egypt’s newly issued gas regulation law will permit factories to choose their own natural gas supplier in order to facilitate the supply of gas to low-energy-consumption, medium-energy-consumption, and high-energy consumption factories.
The law was approved by the Egyptian president on July 2017.
