The retail price of petrol in South Africa will decrease by 1.5% in September, while the price of wholesale diesel will go down by 4.4%, Reuters reported.
July’s pump price for a liter of petrol reduces to $0.07 for all grades, while the price of diesel 0.05% sulphur and diesel 0.005% sulphur was reduced by $0.05 a liter for each. In August, the price of petrol remained unchanged, with diesel dropping by $0.05 a liter and the price of illuminating paraffin reducing by $0.06 a liter, according to Ecofin Agency’s Oil and Gas.
According to South Africa’s Energy Department, the decrease in retail prices comes as a result of the strengthening of the local currency, the Rand, and weaker global prices for oil.
