Siemens has shipped the modules for the first heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) for the company’s Beni Suef gas-fired power plant mega project in Egypt, reported Power Engineering International.
Heat transfer specialist NEM, Siemens Dutch subsidiary, will ship the boiler from South Korea to Egypt, with the module arriving in mid-September. It is one of 24 HRSGs that will be installed at the plant. The project features three 4.8 GW turnkey combined-cycle power plants located in Beni Suef, New Capital, and Burullus, according to Break Bulk Magazine.
The units will eventually be transported to the natural-gas-fired combined-cycle power plant, which will be equipped by eight Siemens SGT5-8000H gas turbines. Exhaust gas from the turbines in each of the eight HRSG will be used to generate high-pressure steam, which would be able to operate the four steam turbines deployed at the plant.
Under the terms of the deal, NEM will carry out engineering, manufacturing, and delivery of 24 vertical triple-pressure reheat once-through HRSG for the three plants.
