Siemens Developed Oil, Gas Repair Facility in Nigeria

Siemens Limited Nigeria has inaugurated a new $3.35m facility in Port Harcourt to increase local capacity in the Nigerian oil and gas industry. The facility was equipped to repair and overhaul highly sophisticated equipment that would previously have been sent overseas, Naija 247 News reported.

The company’s Managing Director and CEO, Onyeche Tifase, stated that the facility is the first of its kind for Siemens in west, east and central Africa. The workshop will ensure that the company can provide greater responsiveness, reduce turnaround time and optimize costs for undertaking maintenance programs, according to Today.ng.

Tifase added that the workshop will reduce capital flight in the country and will also facilitate the implementation of Nigeria’s Content policy.  She added: “this will enable the establishment of a one-stop service centre catering to all range of Siemens equipment and solutions across various sectors and industries.”

Future development plans for the workshop will include the provision of electrical repair services for equipment such as motors, drives, switchgear, transformers, distribution boards and others.
