Egypt Oil and Gas (EOG) Group has launched the fourth edition of “She Is Energy” Event on April 15, 2025 at Triumph Luxury Hotel. The Workshop was technically prepared by Egypt’s Women in Energy Network which is a part of the EOG Committee.
The workshop was opened by a keynote speech of Eleanor Rowley, Managing Director Egypt at Capricorn Energy and Egypt’s Women in Energy Network Lead, highlighting the importance of this event and its objective. She also emphasized the vital role of the Women in Energy Network among the petroleum sector.
“Egypt’s Women in Energy Network is extremely active. We are building this network day by day, and month by month. I am amazed at everything that has been achieved so far. We have already held many networking events, workshops, mentoring sessions, and informal get-togethers we call ‘Sips and Tips,” Rowley noted.
Additionally, Iman Hill Manager & Director, Vaalco Energy gave an inspiring speech explaining how the women can pass through the difficulties and achieve progress despite challenges. She also gave tips to the attendees to follow in their career life, stating “if you want to maximize your personal growth and development, deliberately leave your comfort zone. Do not stay in the same organization. But if you choose to do so, then work in different parts of that organization, and take on different experiences.”
Heba Abdel-Kader Chairman Assistant for Marketing, Egyptian Petrochemicals Holding Company (ECHEM), gave another powerful speech sharing her successful experiences and insights to women on how to shine during their career lifetime. “You do not have to become someone else to succeed in this sector. You just need to become the best version of yourself. This industry is not about ‘muscle’, it is about mindset. It is about having the drive to learn, the courage to speak up, and the strength to keep going even when you get stuck”, she said.
Also, the event witnessed interactive breakout session where the attendees selected the preferred topics to that face the women who are working in the petroleum sector to discuss in groups and find the possible solutions. These topics included Breaking Stereotypes & Bias in Energy, Fast-Tracking Women in Leadership & STEM, Work Life Synergy, Women’s Role in Sustainability, Equity & Clean Energy, Digital Transformation Empowering Women, Overcoming Imposter Syndrome, Unconscious Bias and Micro-Aggressions, Building a Supporting Network, Women’s Challenges in Business and Managing Teams and Building Collaboration.
At the end of She’s Energy Workshop, Sally Kenawy, Planning Manager for Integrated gas and Upstream announced the launch of the “Sips and Tips Groups”, explaining “it is something that we did as an executive committee for a little while, and it is basically a way for women of similar set of lives, similar background, to get together, help each other build a network and talk about things that are hard. we are going to launch three groups, women in the field, new leaders, and early career professionals.”
