Qatargas Operating Company Limited (Qatargas) has granted a contract to Qatar Kentz for the engineering, procurement, supply, construction and commissioning of a water recycling facility at the planned Laffan Refinery 2, reported Construction Week.
The water recycling facility is set to reduce the plants’ water consumption and eliminate treated industrial water discharge. The recycled water will be used as boiler feed water and cooling water.
The water recycling facility it is scheduled to be operational at the end of 2016.
According to Zawya Laffan Refinery 2 is an expansion project of the original Laffan Refinery 1, a joint venture between Qatar Petroleum, Total, Idemitsu, Cosmo, Marubeni and Mitsui.
When completed Refinery 2 will process an additional 146 thousand barrels per day of condensate, doubling the capacity of Laffan Refinery 1.
The Ras Laffan Terminal Operations team operates all the oil products tank farms and related marine terminals at Ras Laffan Industrial City in Qatar. Ras Laffan is the largest LNG and oil products export terminal in the world.
