Pumped fuel rates will increase by up to 20% during Eid Al-Fitr holiday, where 25 million liters per day will be injected to the market instead of 20 million liters, Abed Ezz El-Regal, CEO of Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC), told Amwal Al Ghad.
The Ministry of Petroleum will raise the regular amount of diesel it provides to the market from 50 million liters per day to 55 million liters per day, with an increase of about 10% to cover citizens’ demands during the period of Eid, according to Ezz El-Regal.
This comes as Egypt aims to boost fuel and diesel reserves, while the country has already witnessed an upsurge in both products, especially in Upper Egypt and Sinai.
Egypt increased pumped fuel in the local market by 5% to 7% during Ramadan and planned to continue pumping the increased volumes after Eid Al-Fitr to avoid any bottlenecks.
