PetroSafe, SOPC Examine the Environmental Impact of Coking Complex Operations

As part of a national effort to promote sustainable development, Suez Oil Processing Company (SOPC) and Petroleum Safety and Environmental Services company (PetroSafe) have conducted a consultation session to study the effect of constructing and operating a coking complex inside SOPC’s refinery facility. The meeting was attended by community representatives and senior officials of the Suez governorate.

The project aims to maximize the production capacity of high-value petroleum products based on international standards, especially butane and diesel.

The production of high standard diesel through this project will promote self-sufficiency by reducing imports and providing high-quality fuel that suits the modern cars’ engines, according to the statement. It will also meet the domestic market’s demand for mazut.

At the end of the session, it was reached that the project will not harmfully affect the environment.
