The Iraq’s Ministry of Oil, represented by the North Oil and North Gas Companies, signed a contract with bp to develop four fields, including Kirkuk with its two domes “Avana” and “Baba”, Bai Hassan, Khabbaz, and Jambur.
Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil, Hayan Abdul-Ghani Al-Sawad, stressed the ministry’s keenness to maximize the state’s oil and gas resources, which will be positively reflected in maximizing the financial resources of the federal budget.
The Minister added that signing the contract to develop the fields of the North Oil Company is a major achievement, credited to the ministry and the company, especially after a period of hiatus.
He noted that the development and rehabilitation operations will add quantities to national production especially natural gas supporting the production of electricity.
It is noteworthy that the contract includes the rehabilitation and development of the four Kirkuk fields, in addition to the rehabilitation and expansion of the gas facilities in the North Gas Company.
