Petrojet Signs a $100M Contract to Implement Coastal Protection Works at Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant

Petrojet Chairman Waleed Lotfy and Alexei Kononenko, Vice President of JSC Atomstroyexport, a subsidiary of the Russian Rosatom, has witnessed the signing ceremony of the contract for implementing coastal protection works at the Dabaa nuclear power plant between the two companies.

The signing ceremony was attended by Amged El-Wakeel, Chairman of Egypt’s Nuclear Power Plants Authority (NPPA); and Samy Soliman, Egyptian Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority (ENRRA) Chairman.

El-Wakil explained that it was agreed with the Russian side that the local participation rate would not be less than 20% in the first unit, reaching 35% in the fourth unit.

For his part, Lotfy expressed his happiness at signing the contract for the marine shore protection works in the Dabaa plant project, with a length of 4.2 km, which is one of the steps in Petrojet’s participation in the Dabaa station.

The implementation of earthworks includes earthworks for approximately 2 million cubic meters, supply and installation of rocks in an amount exceeding 800,000 cubic meters, and the manufacture and installation of concrete breakwaters exceeding 91,000 pieces, Lofty noted.

Meanwhile, Kononenko stated that signing today’s contract with Petrojet is a milestone in the history of implementing the Dabaa nuclear power plant construction project, as Petrojet has the necessary competencies, expertise and resources to successfully complete this task.
