Several hundred workers at Oman’s state oil company Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) staged protests at company headquarters and at least one oil and gas field, demanding higher wages.
The protesters in Muscat, who held up placards outside PDO headquarters, said workers at the Marmul oilfield and the Karn Al Alam gas field also stopped working for several hours. It was not clear if the stoppages had affected production.
The country produces about 800,000 barrels per day of oil.
