The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development (MPED) allocated EGP 4.9 billion of investments to the oil and gas sector in Alexandria during the fiscal year (FY) 2020/21;  29.

5% of total investments in the governorate.

Hala Al-Said, Minister of MPED, stated that the ministry targets delivering natural gas to 95,450 customers in Alexandria in FY 2020/21. Not only that, she added that the ministry’s development plan for the oil and gas sector in Alexandria includes converting 4,000 vehicles to run on natural gas.

It should be noted that MPED allocated EGP 16.6 billion of public investments to Alexandria in its FY 2020/21 plan; an increase of 35% over the FY 2019/20 plan.
