Iran, Poland to Create Oil Shipping Firm

The National Iranian Tanker Company (NITC) and Poland’s Ciech Trading S.A. are in talks in Tehran in order to establish a joint company for the marine transportation of crude oil, petrochemicals and liquefied gas, reported Islamic Republic News Agency.

NITC’s New Managing Director, Sirous Kianersi, stated that that company was ready to boost ties with Polish companies in various relevant areas, following sanctions remove. He added that Iran plans to increase LNG exports asserting “NITC is ready to launch joint cooperation with Warsaw in the field of liquefied natural gas transport,” according to Mehr News Agency.

In related news, National Iranian Oil Company’s (NIOC) Executive Director for International Affairs, Seyed Mohsen Ghamsari, had previously pointed to negotiations between NIOC and Grupa Lotos S.A. of Poland over inking a long-term oil sale contract saying “so far two million barrels of crude oil have been delivered to Lotos.”  Furthermore, NIOC and Polish state owned PGNiG hadsigned a memorandum of understanding (MoU), accordingly PGNiG would conduct primary studies on Iran’s Sumar oil field in the Iranian western province of Kermanshah.
