Madbouly Urges Solar Shift for Homes, Industry

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly urged the government to launch an initiative to incentivize factories and households to transition to solar energy, stressing that this is a top government priority.

This came during the Central Crisis Management Committee meeting, chaired by Madbouly, to follow up on the latest developments of the current crisis.

During its meeting, the Committee approved suspending the decision requiring public shops, shopping centers, and restaurants to close at 11 PM, and returning to the normal operating hours previously in effect.

The meeting reviewed the latest repercussions of the current crisis, the most recent developments in the status of the ‘US–Israeli–Iranian’ military operations, and the implications of those operations for economic conditions regionally and globally, as well as at the domestic level.

During the meeting, Madbouly addressed the efforts of the relevant state bodies to address the repercussions and developments of this unprecedented crisis, as well as the ongoing preparation of various scenarios in line with projections of the conflict’s duration and scope.

In this context, he pointed to the coordination and cooperation among the different entities to secure reserves and long-term stocks of commodities and petroleum products, in implementation of the directives of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, thereby contributing to meeting diverse consumer and production requirements.

The US–Israel–Iran war, which has been going on for almost two months, has been disrupting oil and gas flows through the Strait of Hormuz. For Egypt, this has meant a surge in natural gas import bills, fuel price hikes, and mounting inflationary pressures, forcing the government to adopt austerity and emergency support measures.
