Italian energy giant Eni received 400 feddans of land in Port Said governorate to establish a plant for processing natural gas of Zohr field, Zawya reported. According to Oil&Gas Journal, Eni is to build two natural gas plants in Egypt as part of its program to increase processing capacity for gas from its deepwater Zohr development in the Mediterranean offshore Shorouk concession.
Construction is already under way on the planned processing plant and associated gathering installations in Port Said, the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum said. The processing plant follows Eni’s decision to accelerate production from Zohr field, the first two development phases of which previously were to use existing infrastructure and processing capacities.
Production at Zohr field is set to start during 2017 with initial volume of 1bcf/d of gas
Egypt’s Oil Minister previously held a meeting to evaluate drillings at developmental wells of Zohr field, as the ministry stated in a press release received by Egypt Oil&Gas.
