Egyptian electricity production increased by 7.6% year-on-year (YOY) in September 2018, recording 18.4 megawatts per hour (MWh) compared to 17.1 MWh in September 2017, Egypt Oil & Gas reports.
Statistics published by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) reveal that the country’s electricity consumption grew by 2.8% YOY, from 14.1 MWh in September 2017, to reach 14.5 MWh in September 2018.
The residential sector consumed the largest portion of the country’s electricity in September 2018, using 6.1 MWh or 42.1% of the country’s total consumption.
The industrial sector used 26.2% of the country’s total electricity consumption (3.8 MWh), making it the country’s second largest electricity consumer.
