El Molla Praises Oil, Gas Sector CSR Contributions

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla stated that the petroleum sector is adopting a new strategy for corporate social responsibility (CSR) aimed at achieving sustainability, uniting efforts, and working together to improve the quality of living conditions for local communities all over Egypt.

El Molla added that these contributions are an essential part of the petroleum sector’s strategy and represent one of the main pillars for achieving and implementing the sustainable development plan within the framework of “Egypt’s Vision 2030” with its economic, environmental, and social dimensions.

The axes of the action plan of the new strategy for social responsibility include education, training, economic development, health, gender equality, and environmental protection projects. This is in addition to participating in presidential initiatives such as the Haya Karima (‘Decent Life’) initiative, the minister noted.

El Molla explained that a higher committee for social responsibility was formed, headed by the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources. In addition, working groups were formed by the ministry, the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC), and holding companies to follow up on the implementation of social responsibility plans and projects.

The minister praised the constructive cooperation, whether with local oil companies or the success partners of foreign companies operating in Egypt, and their keenness to contribute and participate in the implementation of many diverse community projects that have a vital impact on citizens.
