Egypt’s 2018 presidential elections would begin abroad on March 26th, The National Electoral Commission (NEC) announced on January 8th during a press conference, Daily News Egypt reported.
Presidential elections would kick off abroad on March 16th, NEC’s announcement added.
Elections in Egypt will be held on three days, starting March 26th and March 28th, in order for the results to be announced on April 2nd.
In case Egypt needed an elections rerun, elections would start outside of Egypt from April 19th to April 21st, while it will take place in Egypt from April 24th to April 26th.The country will need to have a runoff if no candidate gets over 50% of the votes.
NEC will receive candidates’ applications between January 20th and January 29th and will publish the list in state-run Al-Ahram and Al-Akhbar newspapers by the end of January 2018.
