Parliament will vote today on three laws to regulate nuclear activity, Ahram Online reports.
It is important to implement the laws before Egypt and Russia begin building Egypt’s first nuclear power plant at El Dabaa, the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Mahmoud El Sherif, told reporters.
These laws lay the required “legislative foundation” for “the construction of the first nuclear power station at El Dabaa to begin,” El Sherif noted, according to the newspaper.
He said that the Cabinet had already signed off on the contracts for the Dabaa project.
The government has previously stated that the contracts would be finalized by the end of 2017.
