Egypt, France Sign $76.5m Gas-to-Homes Agreement

Egypt and France have signed a grant agreement worth $76.5m to be allocated to gas-to-homes projects, according to the Ministry of International Cooperation’s official website. Minister Sarah Nasr has signed additional agreement with AFD’s Egypt worth $1.1m to be invested in different fields including energy, health, urban development, social housing, vocational training, and climate change.

Minister Nasr stated that “the grant agreement relating to gas delivery to homes has been amended according to directives of President El-Sisi to optimize the local component and accelerate the project’s implementation.”

The deal includes gas delivery to 2.4m houses over four years, including 1.1m houses to be identified in 11 governorates, namely Giza, Ismailia, Alexandria, Matrouh, Qalyubia, Menoufia, Dakahlia, Qena, Sohag, Gharbia, and Aswan.
