Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla met with Cesar Elizondo, President of the German Ruhrpumpen Company, and his accompanying delegation, the ministry said in a statement.
The meeting discussed ways to support and enhance the local manufacturing activities of pumps through the existing partnership between the petroleum sector and the company in the Egyptian-German factory for pumps (Ruhrpumpen Egypt) in Suez.
El Molla highlighted the importance of focusing during the current period on expanding and increasing production lines and pump manufacturing capabilities locally in light of the opportunities available in the oil and gas sector and the growth of the sector’s projects and activities, which is a great incentive to expand and increase the production capacities of these pumps.
The company’s activities are witnessing increasing growth during the recent period, as a reflection of the success of the ministry’s strategy aimed at achieving progress in manufacturing pumps needed by oil and gas projects locally as an executive arm of the sector in manufacturing pumps locally, El Molla said.
The minister also praised the important steps provided by the company in the field of technical support and maintenance of pumps of all kinds and directed to increase cooperation and coordination between the company and the companies of the petroleum sector in this field and benefit from that.
The meeting witnessed a review of the great growth and development in the activities of Ruhrpumpen Egypt, where it succeeded in achieving €13.5 million in return, an increase of 15% over last year, and it approved a budget of €20 million, an increase of 30% over last year. The company was also able to manufacture and deliver a pump for the Zohr gas field for the benefit of Petrobel. The company also improved the plant’s efficiency and increase production capacities, as the company developed its ability to test new pumps to reach 4 pumps per day, which enhances its production capabilities.
Ruhrpumpen Egypt is working on an ambitious plan in coordination with the petroleum sector and Ruhrpumpen International to add new units and production lines to increase its capabilities to meet the demand in the oil and gas sector, in addition to its activity in supplying pumps for some national projects such as ‘Egypt’s Future’ Project for Agricultural Production and Toshka.
