Egypt PM Meets Eni CEO

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly discussed Italian oil major Eni’s Egyptian investments with company CEO Claudio Descalzi on August 28, MENA reported.

The meeting comes a day before Egypt hosts Italy’s deputy prime minister and Minister of Economic Development Luigi Di Maio, who will visit for three days.

Egyptian Minister of Petroleum Tarek El Molla also met with Rome’s ambassador to Cairo, Giampaolo Cantini, to arrange for Di Maio’s visit, Egypt Oil & Gas reports.

Eni, EGAS and Tharwa Petroleum signed an exploration and production agreement worth $105 million for the Noor concession two weeks ago. Rumors circulated two months ago that the Noor concession contains gas reserves similar to that of the giant Zohr field.

Eni is one of the main partners of the Egyptian oil and gas industry, owning 50% of Zohr and operating onshore crude well in the Western Desert.
