A project to connect Egypt and Jordan’s electricity grids will permit the two countries to exchange up to 400 megawatts of electricity, the Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Mohamed Shaker, said during a meeting with his Jordanian counterpart, according to Amwal Al Ghad.
Egypt wants to work with its Arab neighbors, Shaker noted, to achieve greater integration.
During the meeting, the two ministers highlighted the strong economic and cultural ties between the two countries.
The Jordanian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Saleh El Khrabsha, discussed the possibility of raising Jordan’s energy output from renewable sources to 2,400 megawatts within two years and expressed openness for further cooperation with Egypt in the electricity sector.
The two countries will establish a joint task-force to conduct a feasibility study on further cooperation.
