Egypt had 19,000 vehicles start running with natural gas in 2018, an official source at the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) told Amwal Al Ghad.
The number of cars converted to natural gas reached 256,000 vehicles since the start of the conversion activities.
The initiative will decrease benzene and diesel import bills and eventually decrease fuel subsidies allocations during the upcoming years, as the citizens gradually shift to gas-powered cars, the source said.
Egypt’s the natural gas production was currently increased and exceeded 6.6 billion cubic feet per day (bcf/d).
