Egyptian Minister of Petroleum Tarek El Molla met with Canadian Ambassador to Egypt Jess Dutton to discuss increasing cooperation in the fields of oil, natural gas, petrochemicals and mineral resources, Egypt Oil & Gas reports.

The meeting also reviewed ways that both countries may benefit from the mutual exchange of expertise.

El Molla emphasized the long-term political and economic relationship between Egypt and Canada which has made possible Canadaian investments into Egypt.

He also expressed satisfaction with the pace of Egyptian-Canadian cooperation in the oil and gas sector. A number of Canadian companies operating in Egypt have been succeesful in the fields of exploration and production, and training and development of staff.

Meanwhile, Dutton said that Canadian businesspeople and firms have a great interest in the investment opportunities available in Egypt’s petroleum and mining sectors in particular. She remarked that Egypt’s strong fundamentals and developed infrastructure, in addition to the measures taken by the Egyptian government to create an attractive climate for investment, may lead to increased levels of investment.
