Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, affirmed that preparations for Summer 2026 are progressing in full coordination with the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy to secure the fuel and natural gas supplies for power plants, ensuring a stable electricity supply without outages, according to a release by the ministry
Badawi made the remarks during his meeting with members of the House of Representatives and the Senate, where he listened to the demands and needs raised on behalf of citizens across various governorates regarding essential petroleum sector services, foremost among them the expansion of natural gas connections to households.
In this regard, the ministry noted progress on natural gas delivery projects across Sohag, Assiut, Beheira, and Sharqia governorates. Gas network installation has already started in Saqulta city in Sohag, while a village in Shubrakhit in Beheira is already connected to the natural gas network.
The ministry added that several villages in Manfalut center in Asyut Governorate will be connected with natural gas under the 2026/2027 year plan as well as Nakhla village in Beheira Governorate.
The Ministry’s statement also confirmed readiness to implement a gas connection project in Abu Khalil area in Sharqia Governorate, pending final approvals, alongside ongoing efforts to connect natural gas to homes in new urban communities, including New Assiut and New Borg El Arab cities.
