Worley, the Australia-based professional services company in energy, chemicals and resources, has expressed interest in tapping the Egyptian market. Vivek Natarajan, Worley’s Vice President for Project Delivery and Operations across Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt, and Sub-Saharan Africa, met Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, to explore cooperation opportunities in existing and new mining projects and leverage the Australian company’s expertise and capabilities to develop integrated solutions supporting the growth of Egypt’s mining sector.
During the meeting, held on the sidelines of the Egypt Mining Forum (EMF), Badawi highlighted the importance of resorting to specialized international expertise to improve the development and execution of mining projects, support the government’s efforts to maximize the added value of mineral resources and attract more investment to the sector.
The meeting also addressed cooperation in training and human capacity building through practical training and technical qualification programs.
The two sides agreed to strengthen links between Worley and mining companies operating in Egypt to gain a better understanding of their needs, projects, and development stages. This could create new opportunities for cooperation in infrastructure, processing facilities, and other components of mining projects, according to the petroleum ministry’s statement.
