Algeria’s National Company for Exploration, Production, Transport and Commercialization of Hydrocarbons, Sonatrach, reported new successful drilling results with partners Thailand’s PTT Exploration and Production Plc (PTTEP) and China’s CNOOC Ltd. at the Hassi Bir Rekaiz project in the Berkine basin. Tests showed a crude oil flow rate of 2,406 b/d, Reuters wrote.
PTTEP, the exploration phase operator of the onshore project in eastern Algeria, indicated that the joint venture plans to submit a development plan to the authorities for approval in early 2017 after successfully completing the drilling campaign, according to Rigzone.
Sonatrach, PTTEP and China’s CNOOC Ltd. hold 51%, 24.5% and 24.5% interest in the 2,686 km2 block. The companies found crude oil and gas in 10 wells since the start of the exploration campaign in 2011.
