GUPCO CELEBRATES 50 YEARS OF CHALLENGES & ACHIEVEMENTS

The Gulf Of Suez Petroleum Company (GUPCO) is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year by commemorating its long journey of challenges and achievements.

OPTIMIZING PRODUCTION: INJECTING LOW SALINITY FRESH WATER IN WELLS TO INCREASE PRODUCTION.

Injecting fresh water in wells to increase production has been a long-awaited project for GUPCO’s stakeholders since the time BP’s executives and the EGPC endorsed this method some time ago. The GUPCO LoSal EOR project, will substitute a low-salinity fresh water injection stream in place of the seawater currently utilized for pressure maintenance within the GUPCO Morgan and Badri fields.

KARAM & ASSIL GAS TREATMENT PROJECT

The Karam and Assil project is one of the most important gas treatment projects operated by Bapetco, as it produces about 150mcf of natural gas and 2000 b/d of condensate. The project successfully was started on November 2014 and is located in the Western Desert, about 300 km west of Cairo.

QPC – Karama Fields – Power Requirements Project

Increasing power generation by using MPUs turbines (Mobile Power Units) with ISO power of 8.4 MW to cover the required power at karama fields.

Belayim Development Project- New Land Oil Train

Existing plant separation units are not achieving the required oil/water separation due to increasing water cut (80%) and aging of the equipment (20 years). Meeting the increased production of the plant (200 KBPD vs. 90 KPBD current capacity).

DCS System for Petreco Plant

This Petrobel project includes upgrading of an existing obsolete control system at Petreco control room from single loop to control to DCS system, and also including field instruments replacement to cope with DCS.

DEKA Development Project

The DEKA project launched by Petrobel is targeting the development of both the Denise and Karawan fields in Temsah Concession located at offshore Egypt in order to add a Natural Gas production of about 210 MMScfd, with an estimated cost of $ 470 MM. The Denise field is about 70 km off the Egyptian coast, while Karawan field is about 60 km off the Egyptian coast. The Denise field is in water depth of about 100 m and the Karawan field is about 68 m in depth.

SinoTharwa Starts Offering Seismic Services

SinoTharwa Drilling Company, a joint venture between Egyptian and Chinese national energy companies, decided at the beginning of this year to compete in the market of seismic services. The services offered will be seismic acquisition, processing and interpretation. The company can use several profiling methods, 2D, 3D as well as 4D.
