Scatec, a leading renewable energy solutions provider, has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) to develop a solar power plant with a total capacity of 1.95 gigawatts (GW) and a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) to store the generated power with a capacity of 3.9 gigawatt-hours (GWh).
MRMIA Approves 53 Mineral Exploration and Exploitation Licenses in Q4 2025

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi endorsed the approvals following a technical review by a specialized committee and the MRMIA Board of Directors, according to a statement by MoPMR.
Egypt Seals $1.8 Bn Renewable Energy Deals with China, Norway
Egypt has signed agreements worth over $1.8 billion with Norway’s Scatec and China’s Sungrow to develop two major renewable energy projects, marking a significant expansion of the nation’s green energy infrastructure, according to a statement by the Cabinet. Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly attended the signing ceremony alongside senior government officials. The first project, titled "Energy Valley," will be developed by Scatec in Minya Governorate.

Egypt, Cyprus Push Forward Gas Interconnection Projects

In February, Egypt and Cyprus signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to transport gas from the Cypriot Cronos field, which holds 3.1 trillion cubic feet (tcf) of proven gas reserves, to be processed at Egypt’s Zohr field facilities, then liquefied at the Damietta LNG plant for export to European markets. Italy's Eni, which operates Zohr, also operates Cronos in partnership with the French TotalEnergies.Cyprus, which assumed the Presidency of the Council of the European Union on January 1, 2026, aims to bring the EU closer to Egypt, describing the country as a "strategic partner and pillar of stability," according to the Cyprus Mail.
bp Commits to Increase Investments in Egypt

bp has an ambitious plan to maximize Egypt’s promising geological potential and increase Arcius Energy (a joint venture between bp and ADNOC’s XRG) investments to develop gas resources in the coming period, the company's top executives told Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources during a meeting.
Rashpetco to Double Natural Gas Production by FY 2029/30
Rashid Petroleum Company (Rashpetco) revealed a five-year strategic plan (2025–2030), aiming to double its current natural gas production by fiscal year (FY) 2029/30.
A primary highlight of the strategy is the West Mena region, located offshore the Mediterranean, where drilling operations for the first well are scheduled to commence in February. The project targets an estimated production of 160 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscf/d) of natural gas and 1,900 barrels of condensate per day by the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2026.
