AMOC Reports 27% Sales Growth for Q1 FY2025/26

Alexandria Mineral Oils Company (AMOC) has announced its standalone and consolidated financial results for the three months period ending in September 30, 2025, recording a 27% increase in net sales compared to the same period last year.

Egypt Strengthens Cooperation with Siemens Energy

Mohamed El-Shimy, Minister of Public Business Sector, met with a delegation from Siemens Energy to discuss potential areas of cooperation as well as explore investment opportunities and partnerships in several areas. These areas include fertilizer and aluminum industries, energy systems, and energy efficiency enhancement, with a particular focus on technology transfer, renewable energy, and carbon emissions reduction.

Egypt Discovers Gas-Bearing Layer at Zohr-9 Boosting Output by 70 mmcf/d

Egypt has encountered a gas-bearing layer at the Zohr-9 well in the Mediterranean Sea, with an output of about 70 million cubic feet per day (mmcf/d), according to Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.

Badawi announced the completion of drilling operations of Zohr-9 well via Saipem 10000 drillship with full adherence to safety standards and the planned timetable, within the efforts to secure local market needs and reduce the natural gas import bill.

Maridive Mulls Expansion into Oil Production, Field Development

Karim Badawi, the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, met with a delegation from the Egyptian oil services company, Maridive,  to discuss its new investment plan for expanding the scope of its activities in Egypt to include oil production.  Maridive seeks to leverage its technical expertise to enhance the efficiency and development of existing and mature oil fields, supporting Egypt’s efforts to boost domestic oil and natural gas production, noted a statement by the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.

Egypt, AFC Discuss Deepening Cooperation in Petroleum, Mining Sectors

Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources met with a delegation from the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) to explore means to strengthen cooperation opportunities in the mining sector and the petroleum sector. 

Egypt, Eni Sign Agreement to Produce Biogas from Agricultural, Animal Waste

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi, Minister of Local Development and Acting Minister of Environment Manal Awad, and Mohab Habashi Khalil, Governor of Port Said, attended the signing ceremony of a cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Environment’s Bioenergy Association for Sustainable Development (BASD) and Italian Eni to collaborate in the field of biogas production. The agreement involves conducting a comprehensive feasibility study to establish units to produce biogas from animal and agricultural waste. This step is within the joint efforts to advance the transition toward clean energy and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

QatarEnergy Acquires 40% Stake in Offshore North Rafah Block

QatarEnergy has acquired 40% participating interest in the North North Rafah block spans nearly 3,000 square kilometers in water depths of up to 450 meters. Rafah exploration block offshore the Mediterranean Sea through a farm-in-transaction with Italian Eni, the Operator of the block, which would retain the remaining 60% interest

KarmSolar Expands to Cyprus with a 7.6 Megawatt Solar Plant

KarmSolar, Egypt’s pioneering solar energy utility, announced its official expansion into the Cypriot energy market through KarmCyprus, the company’s first international venture.

As part of this expansion, KarmCyprus has secured a license to build and operate a 7.6 Megawatt (MW) solar PV plant in Monagroulli, located in southern Cyprus, and expects it to be operational by September 2026. In September 2025, KarmCyprus finalized €5 million in project financing from EuroBank (formerly Hellenic Bank) to support the PV plant construction.

AMOC, MIDOR Ink Deal to Boost High-Quality Diesel Supply by 350,000 Tons

Alexandria Mineral Oils Company (AMOC) inked a joint agreement with Middle East Oil Refinery (MIDOR) to upgrade the quality of  AMOC's production to meet international standards, increasing  the supply of high-quality diesel to the domestic market by approximately 350,000 tons

The agreement is part of a plan to enhance integration among petroleum sector companies. It aligns with the directives of the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, to accelerate high-value integrated projects, according to a Ministry statement. 

Badawi Chairs First Meeting of EGYPES 2026 Higher Committee

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi chaired the first meeting of the Higher Committee for the Egypt Energy Show Conference and Exhibition (EGYPES 2026), which will take place from March 30 to April 1, 2026, under the theme “Transforming Energy Through Collaboration, Action, and Realism.”
