Abu Qir Fertilizers and Chemical Industries posted an unaudited net profit after tax of EGP 5.63 billion during the first quarter (Q1) of 2026, marking 102% year-on-year (YoY). These results were disclosed in the company’s unaudited financial statement submitted to the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) following its board of directors meeting held on April 29.

The company’s revenues from its main activity grew by 43% YoY to hit EGP 9.53 billion during Q1 2026. This top-line expansion reflects a 56% surge in gross profit, which climbed to EGP 5.18 billion, bringing the gross profit margin to 54.36% compared to 49.97% in the previous year.

Meanwhile, operating profit, defined as net profit before tax from continuing activities, escalated by 58% YoY to reach EGP 4.42 billion. Net profit before tax established a 105% YoY growth to reach EGP 7.20 billion.

Abu Qir Fertilizers attributed the rise in net profit primarily to the continuous operation of its plants, supported by stable natural gas supplies. The company also cited the execution of its fertilizer production plan, with output exceeding targets by 25% and increasing by 5% compared to the corresponding period last year.

The company further highlighted growth in sales volumes and values by 6% and 44%, respectively, compared to the same period a year earlier. Export volumes and values also rose by 18% and 35%, respectively, alongside a notable increase in local free-market sales.

Abu Qir Fertilizers is Egypt’s largest producer of nitrogen fertilizers, currently accounting for around 70% of the country’s total domestic production. It also serves a wide base of customers across more than 40 countries worldwide, exporting solid and liquid fertilizers and ammonia that meet international quality standards. The company produces prilled urea, granular urea, ammonium nitrate, ammonia, and liquid fertilizers (UAN).
