WEPCO, Petrosafe Conduct Oil Spill Response Drill

Western Desert Operating Petroleum Company (WEPCO) and Petrosafe have come together to conduct  oil spill response drill in Al-Hamra Petroleum Port in the Mediterranean.

This came under WEPCO’s annual training initiative “Misr El-Mahrousa 14” to combat marine petroleum pollution in Al-Hamra Petroleum Port, one of the company’s most important specialized ports. The initiative aligns with environmental law No. 4 for 1994 concerning the preservation of the marine environment from oil spills.

Ibrahim Massoud, WEPCO’s Chairman and Managing Director, alongside Emad Abdel Razek, Petrosafe’s Chairman & Managing Director, affirmed that the aim of the drilling is to have an emergency plan for oil spill accidents and containing them in a timely and managed manner. The training session delved into many scenarios to combat marine petroleum pollution by utilizing advanced control systems and equipment to contain the leaked petroleum oil and secure the high-sensitivity areas adjacent to the Hamra port.
