Vaalco Energy, Â an American independent oil and gas company, has appointed Anwar Husen as the General Manager and Managing Director of Vaalco’s Joint Venture company with the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) and Petrobakr Petroleum Company, according to Vaalco’s statement.
Husen will report directly to Iman Hill, Country Manager and Managing Director of Vaalco Energy in Egypt.
Husen’s expertise in reservoir management and engineering will support its mission to further increase production and maximize asset valuem noted the stament.
Husen brings 38 years of experience across SLB, BG Group, Cairn, Petronas, and NESR, with a career focused on subsurface and petroleum engineering, including hydraulic fracturing and field development across a range of reservoir types, including tight, marginal, and unconventional reservoirs. His experience also covers diverse operating environments, from onshore desert fields to ultra-deepwater and subsea operations.
In Egypt, Vaalco’s operational footprint spans two primary regions: the Eastern Desert, which includes the consolidated West Gharib, West Bakr, and North West Gharib concessions, and the Western Desert, featuring the South Ghazalat concession.
The company reported a 30% increase in oil sales from its Egyptian operations during the second quarter (Q2) of 2026 compared to the previous quarter, generating $86.4 million. The increased sales were reflected in an 11% increase in net profit from the Egyptian operation over the same period, to $43.4 million, according to a statement by Vaalco.
