US Ambassador Hails Egypt’s LNG Plants as Key to Europe’s Energy Security

The US Ambassador to Egypt Herro Mustafa Garg has praised the role of the liquefaction  natural gas plants in Idku and Damietta in maximizing the benefits of natural gas.

Being an essential hub for liquefaction in the East Mediterranean region, she emphasized that it played a major role in meeting Europe’s energy needs.

This came during her tour visit to Damietta LNG plant, which is one of the the most important pillars of the Egyptian petroleum sector’s facilities and infrastructure for natural gas trade and circulation. It contributes to strengthening Egypt’s role as a regional hub for energy trade and circulation. 

In February 2023, the Damietta LNG plant has celebrated of exporting first shipment of natural gas since starting operation in 2005, and 60% of its shipments are sent to Europe.
