The state-owned oil company, Sharjah National Oil Corporation (SNOC) and Germany’s Uniper SE have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) targeting the importation of liquefied natural gas (LNG) into the Port of Hamriyah in the emirate of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). First gas deliveries should arrive into Sharjah in the spring of 2018, reported Zawya.
According to the agreement, gas will flow to the Sajaa field complex and then into the existing pipeline network throughout the Northern Emirates, according to Hellenic Shipping News.
Sharjah National Oil Corporation’s President and Deputy Chairman, Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Al Qasimi said:“We recognise the urgent need of the Northern Emirates for a reliable supply of natural gas that can be easily distributed to support large and small consumers, from the big power generators to small businesses. The Sajaa complex has traditionally been the centre of the gas supply business in the Northern Emirates and it is well placed to continue supporting the region.”
