TAQA Starts Oil Production at Iraq’s Atrush Block

Abu Dhabi National Energy Company PJSC (TAQA) announced the start of oil production at its Atrush Block in the Iraqi Kurdistan.

The Atrush Block is being developed by TAQA and the Kurdistan Regional Government, Zawya informed.

Atrush is located 85km northwest of Erbil and is considered one of the largest and newest oil sites in the Iraqi Kurdistan. The field was discovered in 2011 and its development started in 2013. Initial production from the block is expected to exceed 30,000boe/d in 2017, according EBR.

“Starting operations at Atrush is an important milestone for TAQA, its co-venturers, and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Atrush’s production will bring long-term cash flows to TAQA and we look forward to operating the asset with a commitment to the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental protection,” TAQA’s Chairman, Saeed Mubarak Al Hajeri, stated.

“This achievement recognizes TAQA’s experience and capabilities in developing and operating complex oil and gas assets utilizing our global expertise”, TAQA’s Acting CEO, Saeed Al Dhaheri, added.
