Suez Canal Authority Reduces Transit Rebate on LNG Carriers to 15%

Suez Canal Authority (SCA) reduced the rebate granted to liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers to 15% from 25%, according to a statement published on its website.

This decision will be effective as of November 1, 2021. The new rebate came in light of the current situation of the international LNG trade and as an incentive to encourage LNG carriers to transit through the Suez Canal.

SCA has witnessed notable success in making revenues of $3 billion in the first six months of 2021, which is a 8.6% increase compared with $2.7 billion in the same period of 2020. It is also second in place on Forbes list of the ten Biggest Logistics Companies in MENA for 2021.
