Sudan has restarted oil production from the Heglig oil field, Sudan’s government spokesman Rabie Abdelaty said Wednesday.
The Heglig oil field, which has a production capacity of 60,000 barrels a day of oil, or half Sudan’s total production, was damaged during heavy military action with South Sudan in this border region.
Abdelaty said production has resumed and barrels were prepared for export.
