SDX Energy has announced that the test results of the Ibn Yunus 1X well were positive, Egypt Oil & Gas reports.
The well, which is 9,608-feet deep, has “encountered 100.8 feet of net conventional natural gas pay in the Abu Madi horizon, which had an average porosity in the pay section of 28.5%,” the company said.
The Ibn Yunus 1X well, situated in South Disouq, has flowed with natural gas at a rate of 39.3 million standard cubic feet per day (mscf/d), which exceeds the flow’s initial expectations. However, the flow rate has been limited by the surface facilities put in place to conduct tests on the well.
SDX Energy has shut the Ibn Yunus 1 X well in order to execute an initial build-up. Following the build-up, the company will conduct a number of flowing periods and will collect fluid samples.
The company “remains optimistic about further positive news flow as [it] moves towards delivering first gas from the license before the end of 2018. [SDX] looks forward to updating shareholders on [its] progress at South Disouq over the coming months,” said Paul Welch, president & chief executive of SDX Energy.
