SCZONE Witnesses Laying Foundation Stone for €14 Million Treegas LPG Project

Chairman of the General Authority for Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), Waleid Gamal El-Dein, attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the Treegas project, a station for the filling and manufacturing of composite liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders made from fiberglass. The project has Czech investments and is located within the Sokhna Industrial Zone under the Egyptian-Chinese joint venture Main Development Company.

The project spans an area of 10,400 square meters, with a total investment cost of €14 million, or about EGP 310 million. The project will be implemented over two phases. The first phase includes building a factory to manufacture and fill composite LPG cylinders, with an annual production capacity of up to 500,000 cylinders, using advanced technology that meets international standards. It also involves the transfer and localization of the technology, developing the necessary infrastructure, and generating 250 direct jobs.

The second phase aims to set up assembly lines for gas regulators and pressure valves for the composite cylinders produced in the first phase, with an additional investment cost of €7 million. This phase focuses on the technology for manufacturing these components.

The groundbreaking ceremony was held in the presence of Ivan Jukl, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Egypt; Amany Eid, CEO of EBDA, and several senior executives from SCZONE.

“I am delighted with this collaboration. I believe that there are further opportunities for cooperation between Czech investments and the SCZONE. I highly appreciate the efforts made by SCZONE to encourage its investors to export and reach various markets. I am particularly impressed that the Treegas project aspires to become a regional player in the field of manufacturing composite LPG cylinders,” Jukl stated.

For his part, Gamal El-Dien said, “I am delighted to witness the launch of this ambitious project, implemented by the Egyptian company Treegas, in collaboration with the Czech company HPC, the project’s technological partner. This project represents an outstanding industrial partnership that is based on exchanging expertise, transferring advanced technologies, and maximizing the benefits among all participating parties. It lays the foundation for an industrial vision focused on deepening local manufacturing, leveraging advanced technologies, and meeting global market demands, thereby contributing to supporting the national economy and enhancing its regional and international competitiveness.”
