Repsol, Sonatrach, RWE Dea and Edison announce a new gas discovery in Algeria

The Repsol YPF, Sonatrach, RWE Dea and Edison International consortium announces the discovery of gas from a deep well with a depth of 5,116 meters in the Reggane North region, Block 351c and 352.
The Reggane-6 (RG-6) well has tested gas from the Ordovicium formation for the first time. Together with the other reservoirs already found, the discovery in this geological formation adds to the region’s gas reserves. Extensive exploration and appraisal work is ongoing in the Reggane Basin.
RWE Dea has been active in Algeria since 2003. The Reggane North concession is being exploited by the company in a consortium with Repsol YPF as operator, Sonatrach and Edison International, in which RWE Dea holds a 30 percent share. Since the establishment of the consortium, Reggane-6 is the fourth well to yield gas.
RWE Dea AG, headquartered in Hamburg, Germany, conducts international exploration for natural gas and crude oil. The company deploys state-of-the-art drilling and production techniques and utilises the vast expertise acquired over more than 100 years of its corporate history. It has also set standards in terms of safety and environmental protection.
RWE Dea is active in exploration and production as operator and non operating partner in Germany, Egypt, the UK, Norway and Denmark and holds exploration licenses in Algeria, Libya and Poland.

In Germany, RWE Dea also operates high-volume underground storage facilities for natural gas. In charge of gas and oil exploration and production RWE Dea is part of the RWE Group, one of Europe’s biggest energy corporations.
