President Abdul Fattah El-Sisi met with ministers and delegates from member states of the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC) to discuss regional energy issues, El Balad reports.
According to reports, President Sisi opened the meeting asserting the importance of Arab unity in facing regional threats and crises. Expanding on the purpose of the ministerial meeting, he welcomed Arab investment in the Egyptian oil and gas industry. The meeting also discussed Arab participation in the UN climate change agreement signed in Paris.
Cairo hosted the 95th OAPEC ministerial conference on December 20th.
According to Egypt Independent, Egyptian Oil Minister Tarek El Molla met with visiting ministers in the days before the conference to discuss greater regional cooperation in the fields of oil, gas, and petrochemicals.
States in the organization include Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Libya, and Syria.
